The book I ordered came in quickly and I am happy with this purchase. I am a Contruction Tech College student and this book shows a lot of great detail in the process of redoing or finishing the basement or attic. It actually gives good detailed step-by-step processes of different projects. If you plan on doing any of your own work I would look into this book.

2.0 out of 5 stars Complete- in 2 pages or less, December 22, 2007
I picked this up in hopes of having a single source of info on the many projects associated with finishing a basement and attic/bonus room. While I did refer to it several times, I was never able to gather much information from this book as each topic receives so little attention (there are only ~150 pages devoted to the actual "work", the first 83 pages are pretty pictures).

For details you will need to look elsewhere.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good... if you have a house less than 50 years old, February 21, 2012

This book is next to worthless to me as my house was built in the 1880s. The reason I chose to purchase it was to figure out how to dry up our wet basement. Our basement is not made out of concrete blocks. It is made of very large irregularly shaped sandstone blocks. Some of the mortar has vanished so I replaced this a few years ago which helped but the basement is still wet. Some of the blocks are at least 18 inches thick so I will not be using a circular saw to cut holes in them to install egress windows to say the least. This book appears to have some good ideas for a house built post 1960 or so but that is about it. If your house ever had gas lighting, knob and tube wiring, plaster and lathe walls with balloon framing and a hand dug basement originally meant for storing coal this book isn't for you! If you have a newer house check it out at either a library or a physical bookstore before you purchase it. The sneak peak doesn't really do justice to all the possible reasons someone... Read more
